For the rough cuts I used a miter saw for all of the boards.

To start on the bench the first thing I worked on was creating the sides.

I attached the side boards to the side frame using deck screws.

After building the side frame, I attached side runner boards to the frame

I attached a cleat to the inside top of the sides. This will be used to attach the top of the bench to the sides.

After I had the sides assembled, I attached a front board to the side for decorative purposes

I attached three frame boards to the side for decorative purposes. I didn’t attach one on the top as it will be hidden by the top of the bench

I attached the completed sides to the top of the bench. I used side beams as spacers before attaching them.

I attached the top of the bench to the sides and cleats using deck screws.

I used a quick corner to mark the cuts I would make on the corners of the bench

After building the shelf I attached it to the sides of the bench using deck screws.

Here is the completed bench. I applied a coat of lacquer to help protect it.

This hummingbird feeder has only 5 boards to make the whole thing. It’s a pretty simple project to make.

I used exterior rated glue and brads to secure the bottom of the feeder.

I used a brass piano wire as a hanger for the feeder

For the finish cuts on the feeder I used a band saw. Nothing tricky here, I just took my time.

I cut two holes in the bottom of the feeder, and then made another hole inside those to allow the feeder tube to slide through it.
